Mid-Atlantic Regionals

October 15, 2010

My team, the Virginia Squires, finished 4th, losing to Ring of Fire 15-8 in the game-to-go. Tough loss, but it was an awesome season, and we certainly grew and learned a lot as a team from tryouts to last Sunday. It’ll be good to have an offseason, and I’m looking forward to watching our college guys tear it up throughout the state of Virginia and Delaware. Considering that some of our top lines were five, six, or even seven college players deep, I think it’s safe to say that the future looks bright.

The Mid-Atlantic shook down like this:

Needless to say, we didn’t quite expect to see Ring in that game-to-go. After losing to Southpaw on Sunday morning, the idea was that two wins (which turned out to be against X-Rates and Medicine Men) would get us a rematch, with that game being our best shot at making it to Sarasota. Southpaw threw a wrench into those plans by earning their biggest win of the season at the best possible time, leaving us to face a seasoned Ring team that wasn’t ready to let go of its streak of 14 consecutive trips to Sarasota. We didn’t play our best game when we came up against their pressure, and they got the job done. Congrats to Truck Stop, Southpaw, and Ring of Fire.

I’ll have something up about each team in the coming days.
