Weekend Recap

August 3, 2009

Bravo over Doublewide in the Finals of Colorado Cup, mediocre results on the NY Invite predictions that were made (Replicants have a bad showing in pool play, Rhino had a bad weekend period, sweet that Voodoo did so well and was apparently playing GOAT close before Semis ended early due to bad weather), and Furniture City pools and teams were different from those that I commented on last week (early exit from Los, nice showing from Tanasi [I think Tennessee’s program, which is a large feeder for this team, sort of resembles Virginia’s of a year ago. I remember thinking at Sectionals this year that they could be really good in 2010], Ring X/Y blah blah blah, and Floodwall with a very respectable showing). I did what I could to say what I knew, and I’ll try to do the same when Chesapeake rolls around in a few weeks, which should be easier since I’ll be there playing with Axis.

The Mock Draft has been finished for a few days now, and write-ups/articles/thought explosions were submitted to be put up on the website tomorrow. I started mine off by talking a bit about the thoughts that the whole process had provoked for me, as well as how it clarified many of the trends that I currently see throughout the game. While I was writing it, I kept thinking that a number of issues that I was touching on could be turned into individual articles, so hopefully I can get into some more of what I think about things over here.

The recent UPA Magazine really makes me want to wrap up what I’ve written and thought about Nationals. Perhaps this week, perhaps not.

YCC is this weekend in Blaine, Minnesota, and my brother is playing with Seattle Open. Go L Pod.

Ummm that’s all I’ve got by way of quick thoughts, but once the Huddle stuff is up, I should have more to say.
